GDFL Recap: Stampede Storm Back!
Buffalo, New York- The Battle for Buffalo turned out to be a last minute thriller of a game with the winner not decided until the final minute of the game.The Buffalo Stampede pulled off the improbable comeback victory after trailing 18-8 in the fourth quarter, versus the East Coast Blue Devils to win the game 22-18.
The Blue Devils started the scoring with a touchdown pass from #7 Sha’Ron McCutcheon to #13 D. Rose early in the second quarter. Midway through the second quarter Rose intercepted a pass and returned it 80 yards for his second touchdown of the day giving the Blue Devils as 12-0 lead going into the half.
The second half opened with a touchdown pass from #2 Edward Bishop to #12 Kendrick Benson of the Stampede, making the score 12-8. The Blue Devils were able to answer the Stampede score with another touchdown pass from McCutcheon to Rose to give the Blue Devils an 18 to 8 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Stampede came back with a touchdown pass from Bishop to #9 Kaleb Walker to make the score 18-14 late in the fourth. After getting a turnover on downs with less than 3 minutes on the clock the Stampede drove down the field and completed the comeback with a touchdown pass from Bishop to #11 Justin Marrero
