No Quarter,No Mercy,Rebels too Hot for Sabers
Tacoma Washington-This matchup was going to display 2 Division leaders going head-to-head. As the West Sound Rebels traveled to Bonney Lake to take on the Tacoma Sabers. This game started with outdoor temperatures scorching at 97 degrees, and on field temps at 119 degrees. So needless to say, this was going to be a game of who’s got the best cardio?
The Rebels started out quickly as GDFL Offensive Player of the Year quarterback JT Taase connected with Demetrius Rackley for a 57-yard touchdown. The Rebels defense would hold the Sabers to a 3 and out forcing the punt. JT and company marched back down and got a pitch and catch touchdown to Conner Wade.
The Sabers would answer back with a nice drive of their own and topped it off with a touchdown reception by wide receiver Brian Garner. From there the Rebels would outscore the Sabers 50-0 making the final 63-6 Rebels.
JT Taase would show the meaning of efficiency in this game connecting on 16 completions of 19 attempts. For a total of 345 yards and 7 touchdown passes. That’s nearly a touchdown pass every other connection. All Pro Cory Klingberg would be on the receiving end of 3 of these touchdown passes. All Pro Thomas Alston would add another making he and Cory the GDFL leaders with 9 touchdown receptions a piece.
The ground game continued to pace the offense gaining another 142 yards on the day and 1 more touchdown. All Pro Tyquan Bowie would hit the hole running down hill and his wide receivers would block like their lives depended on it, while he was on his way to a game high 25-yard touchdown run. All Pro Honorable Mention Marshaud Dewalt, and Simeon Wells would mix in with amazing runs of their own.
The defense continued their dominance. The Rebels have now outscored their opponents 329-77 on the season. Through 7 games that’s very impressive and sometimes overlooked because how high flying the offense has been. But this defense is full of “Dawgs” one coach said. They know their jobs and they are proud of being one of the top ranked defenses in the country.
Safety Tavarus Breland would have a beautiful 45-yard pick six. After his interception he followed the Rebel pack in front of him all the way to the house. This defense is fired up and hungry. Every week they’re trying to be better than the week before and that’s the right mindset going into the playoffs.
Up next the Rebels will travel to face the Grit City Knights. And the Tacoma Sabers will host the Washington Warriors.
