by GDFL MEDIA

Alabama-- The Huntsville Rockets took on the Tri-City Outlaws in a pivotal regular-season finale at Bob Jones High School Stadium on Saturday evening.Rockets currently sits at 6-1-1 while the Outlaws maintains an 7-0-1 record heading into GDFL National Playoffs on August 3rd.

The game marked the Rockets second encounter with Outlaws this season. In Week 7 the Rockets dropped their only loss of the season to their arch rival 26-10 in Clarksville, Tennessee at Edith Pettus Park on June 29.

The Rockets battled it out with the Outlaws at home, but lost some key players during the 12-12 tie after being ejected late in the fourth quarter and have been suspended indefinitely due to shoving an official which is a cardinal sin on any level of the game. In the second quarter,Rockets Quarterback Rashard Louie found receiver Rashad Goode on a 62 yard touchdown pass which gave Alabama an early 6-0 lead. The Outlaws responded just before halftime with an scoop and score by Deangelo Miller who returned the ball 85 yards for a touchdown, to tie the game,6-6.

Late In the third quarter,Outlaws cornerback Randall Smith gave Tennessee the advantage 12-6 lead with an interception returned 30 yards for a touchdown.

In the midst of the fourth quarter running back,Justin Ellis broke a tackle and sprinted 5-yards to pay dirt to tie the game at, 12-12.

Unfortunately this great game ended on a sour note with the officials giving several sideline warnings and several penalties and ejections the officiating crew had no choice but to call the game, before the things went to far. So the game ended in a tie. Which means the Outlaws are South Division Champions, Huntsville needed a 17 point victory over the Outlaws in order to secure the title.
